You’ve probably heard of “Hot Girl Summer”, a term coined by rapper Megan Thee Stallion, which encourages women to live their best lives and love the skin they’re in. But for the summer of 2026, Weird Wide Web now presents to you:
ROCK GIRL SUMMER: Female-Fronted Bands You Don’t Want To Miss Out On!
For me, there’s something special about a female voice fronting a metal band. Even though it’s not uncommon these days, it still excites me all the same, just like when I was younger. Perhaps because I started my journey into rock fandom when the genre was dominated by men. Growing up as an obsessive lover of metal music, I observed the evolution of female musicians in the genre, and I’m very pleased where this has ended up and where it is heading! I mean, come on, guys, you’ve got to admit… it was a total sausage fest before! Haha.
I also have enormous respect for all the women out their drumming, playing guitar, and otherwise rocking out, but this blog article is a spotlight on bands with female lead singers. Otherwise, we would be here all day! There are SO MANY talented ladies creating kickass rock music today!
One more precursor: I won’t bother to mention the more mainstream bands here, because the purpose of this blog is to highlight some bands you might have missed! Please, don’t leave a comment about how I forgot Spiritbox, or how I should check them out. 😂 This list could go on and on, actually, because there are SO MANY BADASS WOMEN IN METAL RIGHT NOW. I just don’t have that kind of time. So, here’s what I’ve got for our ROCK GIRL SUMMER celebration! I hope you find some new favorite bands!
As Everything Unfolds
Alternative metal band, As Everything Unfolds, make all the gritty noises needed for headbanging, but with this atmospheric synth-pop sound that really works. My eardrums can’t get enough. I’ve been digging this band a long time and patiently waiting for them to tour the states! (I even thought about using my passport to see them play in Europe.) As Everything Unfolds started in Buckinghamshire, England, but they are taking the world by storm.
Future Palace
Future Palace hails from Berlin, Germany. The band recently signed with Century Media Records and have been making huge waves in the metalcore scene with their perfect blend of harmonic cleans and aggressive screams. These guys serve up some killer riffs and breakdowns, but lead singer Maria’s vocals lend a soft touch to the music’s edge.
Rivals
Rivals is one of my favorite bands! It’s difficult to describe their sound unless you personally click that ‘play’ button on the video below (which you really should!), but picture that life is a mixed drink, and you take all the dark, depressing parts of being a goth girl and blend them up with the sunny, sassy vibe of California. That’s Rivals. I’ve seen them perform live once, and I can’t wait to see them again this September.
Ankor
Ankor is an alt rock band from Catalonia (Spain), but with their heavy electronic beats and energetic dance groove, many fans appreciate how their sound has undertones rooted in a Japanese influence. Best way I can sum it up: Their songs carry the tone of a cutesy anime warrior baddie. Or something like that. Oh, hell, just listen to it!
Dying Wish
Dying Wish serves all the goodies fans of aggressive and hardcore music crave the most. They dish out massive portions of metal, bringing proper fry screams, guitar chugs, and skull-crushing breakdowns to the plate, all with a subtle hint of early 2000s nostalgia. I find their music a comforting, yet refreshing addition to the modern metal scene, and I can’t wait to see them perform live later this year!
Employed To Serve
Employed To Serve are undeniably heavy-hitters. In addition to their brutal tracks, fans can’t get enough of their explosive energy on stage. They’ve toured alongside acts like Gojira and Killswitch Engage and have steadily carved their own solid path through the wilds of the metal genre.
Yours Truly
If you want to dance your angst away, Yours Truly might be the band for you. They’ve definitely got those Paramore vibes, and who doesn’t love that?! I would describe Yours Truly as a punk-pop band with emo undertones. It’s for sure a lighter style of music than some of the face-melting metal on this list and probably a better fit for you if your face got melted already.
Infected Rain
Infected Rain caught my attention many years ago with their perfectly-executed fusion of clean vocals and fierce, guttural screams. Since then, the band has continued to release a host of kickass singles over the years, like their latest in 2026.
Face Yourself
Face Yourself is an amazing band. I’ve been hooked from the first moment I heard them. Seeing them perform live only cemented my fandom. Every member of the band is dripping with talent, but of course, it’s the vocal range of frontwoman Yasmine Liverneaux which has landed Face Yourself on the Rock Girl Summer list…
